Subscribers & Readers,

I would like to begin by thanking you as a reader of The Chieftain.  This project began last fall because I felt there was a need for students to know what was going on campus.  This has included updates on Student Life events, Chapel, construction, etc.  It has become a venue that currently sends out thousands of emails weekly updating students, faculty, staff, prospective students, alumni, and friends of DBU.  This site has created a freedom to ask questions and get answers.

            The Chieftain began as an anonymous site because I wanted to deliver news that was not focused on my interests, but the students.  However, as you may or may not know, I have been elected to represent the students as SGA/Student Body President for the coming year.  I take this opportunity seriously, and fully commit myself to serving the students.  I do not wish to destroy this line of communication with you all; however, using a Xanga site does not seem to be the most suitable way of doing so.

Today will be the last post of by The DBU Patriot.  My pledge to you as the students is to increase current communications in a more appropriate manner.  I would like to have a transition, in which, the Student Government Association reaches out to inform the students.  When you have questions, contact us.  SGA has quick response to all emails, and makes sure each one gets the attention it deserves.  The SGA website will also become a key part for communication in the fall semester.

            I am in anticipation for the coming academic year.  Enjoy your summer, and see you all in the fall.
